Promoting Your Event OnlinePosted on: March 12, 2018
Once your event web page is set up, it is time to promote your event!
On your Website
Most importantly, add a link to your organization’s website that directs to your Event Web Page—preferably on your homepage so you can guide supporters to register online easily.
In the sample below, there are three different places on the homepage that guide you to learn more about events.
Front and center, the main graphic links to a registration page about the event they deem a top priority. Depending on your website, you may have a rotating banner. In this case, a permanent location on your homepage should be used as well, as demonstrated with the Men’s Breakfast location in the sample above. The information in this space is static, so there will always be a place to promote on your homepage and guide supporters without waiting for the rotating banner to show the event again.
Additionally, the website above includes a menu item leading you directly to learn about the upcoming events which can be a simple list of all your upcoming events with links to the appropriate registration pages. (View more samples here.)
If you choose to include your Event Link within a paragraph on your website, we strongly recommend creating a hyperlink rather than the full link as this tends to be long.
Problem: Long URL – https://secure.ministrysync.com/ministrysync/event/home.php?e=12354
Solution: Hyperlink text – Annual Benefit Dinner
In your email signature
Another easy place to promote your upcoming event is in your email signature.
How many emails do you send in a day? Odds are, quite a few! Take the opportunity to add an event image or hyperlink to your email signature and share your upcoming event with everyone you write.
If you have an event banner you are using on your website or as a cover photo on social media, adapt that for use in your email signature. Talk to your organization’s graphic designer for additional help on this.
On your Social Media Pages
Share your event on any social media platform to which you belong. Through Ministry Sync’s Event Dashboard, you have the ability to promote your event instantly under the “Promote Your Event” section.
On your print materials
All your invitations, newsletters, and emails should include information about your upcoming event and include your organization’s webpage so they can register online.
Again, we don’t encourage printing the Event Link on print materials due to space, but guiding your supporters to your organization’s homepage is always a plus! At your organization’s website, supporters will see your event banner, have the ability to click the Event Link, and register online for the upcoming event.
Pro-Tip! If you must print the Event Link on materials, use a service like bit.ly to shorten your URL.
